There is always so much to do when it comes to planning a wedding. Just running through the items of 'To Do' is enough to get stressed over. Being organized and 'doing what you're supposed to do, when you're supposed to do it' is the best way to tackle the whole project!
Here are a few general guide lines:
1) Get engaged! Check!
2) Decide on date and budget for wedding & reception
3) Book location and pastor/officiant
4) Purchase wedding dress
5) Decide on 'theme' or color scheme based on time of year, simple vs. extravagant, your budget, etc.
6) Invite friends and family to be in your wedding party
7) Begin a list of guests to invite
8) Meet with wedding coordinator! Me!
9) Work through ideas with wedding coordinator
- food: buffet vs. sit down dinner, hor d'ourves vs. dessert reception, alcohol
- flowers: round 'pom' bouquets vs. cascading, flowers for all family attending, tossing bouquet
- how many guests invited vs. how many will be attending
- professional photographer & videographer
- Cake
- MC for reception
- music: canned vs. live
- chairs, tables, dishes, flatware
- Program for reception, timeline for the day & days leading up to wedding
As you begin thinking through what your day will be like, consider what's important. First, that you are marrying your best friend and everything else is the frosting on the cake! But it is a special time for family and friends to celebrate with you and mark the doorway, as it were, and entrance to married life. Decide what you really want, ie. gorgeous flowers, photos or a really well put together video, and then, be willing to spend your money there.
